► 12 Ki Multiplier is 150% "Credits" ► Jounouchi, Yami and Otogi were all cropped and cut from anime frames, then edited ► Background comes from Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 ► Original aura effect: https://img.dbarena.pl/items/76.png?v3 ► Original card effect: https://static.dokk.in/card/1000390/card_1000390_effect.png ► Card made by BladerusX "Easter Egg and Trivia Section" The whole card concept is based on the mini-arc concerning Otogi and D.D.M. (Dungeon Dice Monsters), which took place on episodes 46-49 of the Yu-Gi-Oh!: Duel Monsters anime. It shows us Jounouchi losing a bet to Otogi Ryuuji, who as a penalty makes him wear a dog suit for 1 month, which is the reason the card title and the Passive Skill names respectively are "A Bet to be Lost" and "Month-Long Debasement. However, as expected, Yuugi, Anzu and Honda happened to go there with Jounouchi, which leads to Yuugi seeing Otogi undervalue Jounouchi so much, enraging him and causing him to switch places with Atem, becoming Yami Yuugi. Yami then challenges Otogi to a D.D.M. showdown and wins, cancelling the bet. Now that we have a general idea of why this card even became a thing in the first place, time for some easter eggs! Jounouchi's Team Cost, being 36, when both numbers are lowered by 1, reveals the number 25, which is a reference to the fact that one of the Ghouls group being a shop assistant who sold Duel Disks in Battle City, raised Jounouchi's Duelist Rank from 2 to 5 to give him a free Duel Disk so that later his allies could duel, well, decimate him and steal his Red-Eyes Black Dragon. The fact that they stole his Red-Eyes in that confrontation is also one of the reasons Time Magician is the monster to carry out Jounouchi's Super Attack. Speaking of the Super Attack, the whole 50% chance to either lower the enemy's or his own ATK & DEF comes from the Time Roulette effect in the Duel Monsters card game, which has a 50% chance of either destroying all the opponent's monsters and dealing half of their ATK value to him as damage or destroying your own monsters and doing the same thing. The second option can also be used to activate Graveyard effects though, therefore I gave him immense damage on that variant. So, for better visualization of the Super Attack animation, imagine Jounouchi calling out to Time Magician like he does with his quote and then the monster raising his wand up into the air and spinning the roulette. If the first version would occur, the enemy is sucked into the void. Should the second variant occur however, Jounouchi will explode along with Time Magician hurting the enemy. This one might or might not be obvious, but the 60% ATK and DEF boost coming from his passive is a reference to the maximum amount of cards a Duel Monsters deck can contain, being 60. The Active Skill clip is literaly just a conveniently fitting for a Support-type Active Skill clip from episode 48 of the anime. The adjacent ally thing comes from: a) Otogi being his "master" while he was in his Dog Suit b) Yami Yuugi being overall really good friends with Jounouchi, which causes them both to reach newer heights of skill. The Link Skill Tough as Nails is a reference to the Battle City Saga, when he faces off against Yami Malik and somehow manages to stand up and draw his last card, Gearfried the Iron Knight and almost beats Yami Malik in a duel, even after taking a frontal attack from the Winged Dragon of Ra's Phoenix Form. Although it occured only after episodes 46-49, I still decided to include it, as Jounouchi became more and more courageous and determined as the series progressed. And lastly, the stats. The HP doesn't have any meaning this time, but the ATK and DEF values do, so I'll go over them. The ATK value, being 10460, has the number "46" hidden in it, which stands for episode 46. As I previously mentioned, this episode started the Otogi D.D.M. mini-arc and therefore Jounochi first appeared in this dog suit in that episode. On the side note, while Jounouchi's art was cropped from episode 46, Otogi and Yami's arts were taken from the 2 next following episodes, them being respectively 47 and 48. But let's get back on track. The DEF value, which is 7312, contains the number "12" in it. This easter egg specifically has to do with the game Otogi created, D.D.M., or Dungeon Dice Monsters, whichever you want to call it. Now, I won't really go in-depth to the mechanics of D.D.M, as you can read it all online and at the end of one of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist manga chapters, but all you should know to understand this easter egg at it's core is the fact, that when D.D.M. is played, every player has 12 dice on his side to throw. As I said, I won't go deep into the purpose of there being dice, but just know that all things you can roll in-game with them have different effects and uses, depending on what you want to do. Whew! We've made it to the end. If you read all of this, then I really appreciate it and also hope that you'll become interested in my creations in some way. Anyway, Thank you for even looking at this card in the first place, and I wish you a nice day. |
